From Australia to America, Mohammad Bekai competes on the world stage

ICS Student Mohammad Bekai travelled to America as part of the Jiu Jitsu World Championships this year.

Mohammad Bekai is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athlete, one of Australia’s most promising, and a well-known name in the competition circuit.

Earlier this year, Mohammad travelled to America to compete in the Jiu Jitsu World Championships.

From touching down in the USA to compete at the international level, Mohammad trained six hours a day, starting at 6:00am.

He rested at 10:00am before resuming his training at 5:00pm, every day, and was able to demonstrate his level throughout his trip.

After 10 days of preparation in California, he competed at the “Walter Pyramid,” one of America’s most historic and unique collegiate sports venues.

Enrol now for 2025 at our Coburg, Hoppers Crossing and Endeavour Hills campuses.

Opponents flew in from all over the world, including Brazil, and were well-known on the international stage of the competition.  

In May, Mohammad also competed in the Victorian Championships, where he was able to win all three matches against skilled opponents.

Some of Mohammad’s achievements include: AFBJJ Australian National Champion, AFBJJ QLD State Champion, AFBJJ NSW Champion, AFBJJ SA State Champion, AFBJJ ACT State Champion, AFBJJ VIC State Champion, IBJJF Pan Pacific Champion, AJP Grand Slam Champion, 3x FFC WINS, Competed on events such as IBJJF WORLDS AND AJP WORLD PRO.
