Islamic College of Sport Student Khursand Azizi Selected for Historic Inaugural Refugee Women’s Football Team

Islamic College of Sport is proud to announce that our outstanding student Khoursand Aziza has been selected for the inaugural national refugee women’s team, becoming one of the first ever to represent this groundbreaking initiative on the international stage.

This landmark selection follows a rigorous series of talent identification camps held by FIFA, where players were evaluated on their athletic ability, character, and potential to contribute both on and off the field. The initiative embodies the power of sport to foster, resilience and determination, values we uphold at the Islamic College of Sport.

In naming its inaugural 23-player squad, FIFA has sought to create a visible pathway for refugee and displaced women to reengage with international competition and reclaim their sporting voices.

As part of the programme, Khursand and her teammates will benefit from elite level support including professional training environments, medical and mental health services, and mentorship ensuring they are prepared to compete at the highest level.

This initiative underscores the power of sport to create opportunity, hope, and pathways for young women who have faced significant barriers.

Khursand’s selection not only highlights her individual talent and dedication but also reflects the values of Islamic College of Sport, where education and athletic development work hand in hand to empower the next generation of leaders.
