The term began strongly with a visit to the Richmond Football Club, where students were immersed in a professional AFL environment. This excursion offered a valuable opportunity for students to hear from industry experts, including Gemma Ellis, Jack Barrington, and Victoria Ward.
Each guest speaker shared their personal journeys and insights into building a career within the sporting industry, providing students with a deeper understanding of the diverse opportunities available off the field.
Beyond the presentations, students had the opportunity to complete their skill acquisition training at the Swinburne Centre.
In May, students took part in an exciting visit to Melbourne United, one of the premier teams in the National Basketball League (NBL).
This excursion formed a key component of the College’s High-Performance Program, which is designed to elevate each student-athlete’s development.
The day provided students with rare, behind-the-scenes access to an elite sporting environment, allowing them to gain exposure to high-performance systems in action. Through this exposure, students gained valuable insights into the standards and qualities required at the elite level.
Students engaged in player Q&As with Brayden George, Cooper Harvey, Riley Hardeman and Caleb Daniel, gaining firsthand insight into life in elite sport. They then built practical skills through a Networking and Professionalism session, covering workplace behaviour, connections, and interview preparation.
The experience wrapped up with Game Day, an interactive session where students applied teamwork and communication in real time.
Across the program, students developed confidence, practical skills, and a stronger connection to a club invested in their future pathways.
